Ingredients

  • spicy mashed potatoes - 3/4 cup
  • grated fresh potatoes - 3/4 cup
  • eggs - 1 pc.
  • egg whites - 1 pc.
  • olive oil - 1/3 cup
  • milk - 3/4 cup
  • toasted sesame seeds - 1 tbsp.
  • wheat flour - 3 cups
  • wholemeal flour - 1/4 cup
  • baking powder - 1 1/3 tbsp (20 g)
  • sea salt - 1 tbsp.

How to make

Preheat the oven to 360°F (180°C).

Grease the baking pan, in which you will bake the bread.

Mix the mashed potatoes with the grated potatoes, add the eggs and egg white, oil, milk and stir to homogenize everything.

Separately mix the two types of flour, baking powder and sesame seeds. Mix the dry and wet ingredients and pour them on the floured work surface, knead the dough lightly with a few movements and place it in a greased baking pan.

Cut it crosswise with a sharp knife and bake the Irish bread in a preheated oven for about 45-55 minutes, until it is nicely browned.

Remove the potato bread from the oven and leave it for 5 minutes in the baking dish.

The Irish Potato Bread should be chilled for at least 1 hour before cutting it.
