How to make
Clean and peel the apples, cut them into small pieces and sprinkle them with brown sugar and lemon juice.
Mix them well and spread them in a small baking pan greased with coconut oil.
Sift the flour along with the baking powder and salt into a bowl and mix with the coconut shavings and sugar. Add coconut oil in pieces - it should be hard, but not too much. If you store it in the refrigerator, you must first leave it at room temperature for a bit - it should neither be too hard nor too liquid.
Rub the oil into the dry ingredients with your fingers until they are moist and crumbs form.
Pour the butter crumbs on the apples in the baking pan and bake in a preheated oven at 360°F (180 degrees) for 20-25 minutes or until it aquires a golden brown color. The crumble should become crispy and the apples underneath should caramelize lightly. In order to keep an eye on it, I use a fireproof glass baking pan and see how ready the apples are.
In case they need more time to soften (a lot depends on the variety), reduce the oven to 320°F (160 degrees) for another 5-10 minutes.
Serve the ready tasty and fragrant crumble warm - it is amazing! Garnish it with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Enjoy!
