How to make
Sift the flour into a bowl and form a well in the middle. Pour slightly warmed water and the yeast with sugar into it. Sprinkle salt on the side around the well.
Using a spoon or spatula, stir and add the lard - it does not need to be melted, but well softened at room temperature.
Add a little water and mix until you get a soft, homogeneous, slightly sticky dough, which will subsequently become elastic due to vigorous stirring. We need the dough to be well hydrated to make our donuts soft and fluffy.
Cover the bowl with a towel and leave it for 1 hour in a warm room.
Heat plenty of oil over medium to high heat, but not too high. With well-greased hands, tear off apricot-sized pieces from the risen dough. Form a ball, which is then flattened and with your thumb make a hole in the middle in the shape of a donut and put it in the hot oil.
Fry them until they aquire a golden color and place them onto kitchen grease-absorbing paper.
Serve the delicious and easy donuts with jam, powdered sugar or white cheese for a lovely breakfast.
Enjoy your meal!
