"The most favorite mekitsi for breakfast, after which everyone gets up from the table with a smile on their face"

Ingredients

  • flour - 1.3 lb (600 g)
  • eggs - 2 pcs.
  • yogurt - 8.8 oz (250 g)
  • warm water - 0.5 cup
  • baking soda - 0.5 tsp.
  • salt - 0.5 tsp.
  • oil - for frying
  • powdered sugar - for sprinkling
measures

How to make

Sift the flour into a bowl. In another bowl, beat the eggs with a fork, add the yoghurt, warm water, salt and baking soda and beat the mixture until it's smooth and leave it to rise.

Then add the flour in portions and stir.

Then knead a soft dough and when the dough stops sticking to your hands, stop adding the flour. Leave the dough in a greased bowl for 20 minutes to rest.

Meanwhile, in a pan, heat a little more than 0.2″ (0.5 cm) of oil over high heat. Once the oil is heated, reduce to medium heat.

From the dough, form balls as big as an egg and with your fingers stretch each one of them out into a not very thin crust. Fry then on both sides until they aquire a golden color.

Very fluffy mekitsi for breakfast.
