How to make
In a buttered baking dish, arrange half the phyllo pastry sheets. From the other ingredients, without the butter, make a mixture with the ground in advance walnuts. Place this mixture on the sheets as stuffing.
Arrange the remaining phyllo pastry sheets on top and pour on melted butter. Bake until browned. Pour the syrup prepared from 1 2/3 cups (400 ml) water and 1 2/3 cups (400 g) sugar over the cooled baklava.
This baklava tastes best 1 day after it's baked.
