Carob powder is the most appetizing alternative to cocoa and chocolate. Bakery goods made from it are not only delicious but healthy. Here's how to prepare unbelievable bonbons with carob:
Raw Bonbons with Carob
Ingredients: 1/2 cup carob powder, 1 cup oatmeal, 1 handful of raisins, 1 cup dates, soaked overnight, 1/3 cup unpeeled sesame seeds, 1/3 cup sunflower seeds or nuts of your choice, 1/3 cup fine coconut flakes, 2/5 cup coconut oil, 1 lemon, 1 tbsp Amaretto liqueur or other sweet-flavored alcohol.
Preparation: Blend the oatmeal in a blender. Mash the dates with a little water. Mash the lemon as well. Melt the coconut oil on low heat.
Combine all of the ingredients, excluding the carob powder and sesame. Stir well and leave them aside for 15 min. Pour the carob powder and sesame seeds into a deep dish, to roll the bonbons in.
Form small balls from the resulting dough, roll each one in carob powder and the sesame.
Other vegan bonbon recipes that you can make with carob powder are as follows:
Ingredients: 3 1/3 tbsp coconut flakes, 3 1/3 tbsp sesame seeds, 2 tsp carob powder, 2 2/3 tbsp ground almonds, 2 2/3 tbsp maple syrup (or honey), 1 1/3 tbsp coconut oil (or butter).
Preparation: Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl and stir well, so that the carob powder dispenses evenly. Gradually add the softened coconut oil, best with a wooden spoon.
Pour the maple syrup into the blend. Form balls the size of a cherry from the dough using your hands. Arrange them on a platter, cover with cling wrap and put them in the fridge.
Delicious Bonbons with Sour Cherries
Ingredients: 1 cup carob powder, 1 cup raw unpeeled almonds, 1 cup pitted dates, 2 tablespoons almond tahini, 2 tablespoons agave syrup, 2 tablespoons dried sour cherries, 1 2/3 tbsp sour cherry liqueur, coconut flakes for rolling.
Preparation: Mash the almonds into a fine paste. Mash the dates along with the sour cherries. Combine both of these. Next, add the carob powder, agave syrup, sour cherry liqueur and the tahini. Knead until you get soft and sticky dough.
