Freezing is a healthy way to preserve the good composition of fruit for a longer time. This is one way to store blueberries, to then use them for a quick cheesecake, fruit clafoutis, or to garnish American pancakes.
Only healthy and well-ripened fruit are used for freezing.
There is nothing complicated about freezing blueberries.
Before you freeze the blueberries, clean them from the leaves, remove any damaged fruit and wash them. Only hard and well-ripened fruit are selected for freezing.
After washing them, they should be left to drain and dry.
When they have completely dried, transfer the blueberries into a larger tray. Spread them on the bottom of the tray so that they are in one layer.
This blueberry tray should be left in the freezer for about two hours. This way the fruit will not stick to each other and each fruit will freeze separately.
After these two hours, transfer them into plastic containers or bags and place them back into the freezer.
This way, the frozen blueberries can be stored for one year.
When you need blueberries for homemade pastries or as a side dish of breaded cheeses, take them out from the freezer two or three hours earlier to defrost. It is important to do this at room temperature.
