How to Dry Oranges?

The holidays are coming and there's nothing more festive than a beautiful cake decoration and for the rooms too. In this advice, we will tell you how you can easily dry oranges, which you can use not only for holiday decorations, but simply for a beautiful decoration for your home.

How to dry oranges at home

There are several ways to dry these delicious fruit. However, the fastest and easiest way to dry them is in the oven. Drying oranges in the oven takes about 5-6 hours or until the moisture in the oranges is completely gone.

The other way to dry oranges is if you have an electric dryer. The advantage here is that you don't have to watch them constantly and you can do something else while the dryer "does its job".

How to dry oranges in the oven

- Like any other thing that you want to dry, the oranges must, first of all, be prepared for this process. You need to cut them into very thin slices, no more than 0.5-0.7 cm thick, this way the oranges will dry well;

- Then you must put the orange slices in a towel or paper to absorb the moisture in them, otherwise there is a risk that the orange will peel and not dry;

- Place baking paper in the baking pan and foil on top, as this will help distribute the heat properly between each orange slice. If you use a dryer instead of an oven, just put the oranges in the designated places. The temperature at which oranges should be dried in the oven is around 50-60°C;

- Every 40 or 60 minutes the dried orange slices should be turned over, so that they can dry out all over. In this way, the moisture disappears completely from the fruits and they are ready for use. If this is not done, sugar may remain in them, which will subsequently ferment.

Use the dried oranges for your Christmas Pastries and Orange Sponge Cake.
