Braiding helps the garlic (onions) to last longer in storage and is a more aesthetically pleasing option than throwing the bulbs in a mesh bag.
Garlic bulbs or onions are spread on a table (top) in a basement or other suitable room. They are left to air dry like this for about two weeks.
This drying process is necessary to remove some moisture from their stems, so that they do not spoil later.
An important point when it comes to making garlic and onion braids is that if they dry out too much, they will be too fragile to braid, so you must be careful.
How to braid garlic or onions?
You will need:
Heads of garlic - 10-15 pcs.
Two small ropes
Place three onion bulbs with long stalks and leaves on a table facing you. Attach the garlic bulbs (onions) by folding the leaves. Spread the leaves, make three separate parts.
Add a new bulb on the left side and place its leaves in the middle. Start braiding the leaves like a braid, starting with those from the right to the middle. Add a new bulb on the right side and place its leaves in the middle.
Pull the leaves from the left side to the middle. Continue to add new bulbs on both sides and braid the garlic (onion) tightly.
Finish the braid and tie it with the ropes.
You can prepare some delicious onion soup, garlic soup or onion stew with the braided healthy vegetables.
