As with all other products, there are certain storage rules for meat that must be followed in order to have fresh meat for a longer period of time.
The first thing you need to do before you put the meat in the fridge is to check that it is working properly. We will now share with you tips on how you can store different types of meat:
1. The first meat we will pay attention to is red and it can be beef, pork, lamb and others. This type of meat can last in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. If you store it in the freezer, this type of meat can last from 4 to 12 months. Keep in mind that even if it was in the fridge, when you take it out, you need to check its condition. If the meat has turned brown and no longer looks as fresh, it means you should throw it away immediately. If you cook the red meat, you can leave it in the refrigerator for 3-4 days, if you leave it in the freezer, it can last from 2 to 6 months.
2. The next meat we will pay attention to is poultry meat. Poultry can be stored in the refrigerator for only 1-2 days. But if you decide to put it in the freezer, you can store it for up to 9 months. If you decide to store cooked poultry, the rules are the same as for red meat.
3. Seafood - fish and seafood can last one or two days in the refrigerator. If you want to keep them for a longer time, you need to store them in the freezer. Frozen seafood can last up to 6 months. Fish that contain less fat can last in the freezer for six months. And fish with more fat can last two to six months.
4. Minced beef - whether the minced meat is beef, lamb or chicken, it can be stored in the refrigerator for only one or two days. If stored in the freezer, it can last for 3 to 4 months.
5. The next type of meat that we will pay attention to are processed meats - products such as sausages, bacon, ham, smoked meat, salami and others, can be stored for up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator if not opened. If you opened the product before putting it in the refrigerator, then you can keep it in the refrigerator for 5 to 7 days. If you store it in the freezer, this type of product lasts up to 2 months.
