We are answering a question, which often worries those, who have begun to fast.
Many people who have decided to stick to the fasting menu before some of the biggest church holidays are still unsure which foods can be eaten and which cannot. For example, some people try to temporarily exclude honey from their diet, while others are not so sure and consume this dessert.
It is known, that during fasting, the consumption of desserts, which contain animal products is eliminated, which means - milk chocolate, most types of cookies, cakes, pastries sponge cakes and other pastries from the relevant department of the supermarket are excluded from the menu.
But there is also a group of products, that can be an alternative to the usual desserts and which are not banned, precisely because they do not contain any animal products and are therefore entirely lean: they include homemade jam, jam, dried fruit (raisins, dried apricots, dates, prunes, etc.), sweet nuts, dark chocolate, halva, marmalade and honey. Yes, honey can be eaten during fasting. To all doubters, the clergy cite the example of the holy prophet John, who consumed only insects and honey.
Honey is able to significantly diversify the lean menu and in addition it is very healthy, because the composition of this product includes various trace elements and vitamins.
Honey will help those who feel tired and dizzy during the period of fasting and will give the body strength and energy. Remember, that it is important to consume the recimmended amount on an empty stomach: two teaspoons of honey a day will be enough to satisfy the need for simple carbohydrates. Fasting must be observed by the soul and mind, so restrictions are necessary, even if we are talking about products from the permitted list.
