How to make
Make a well in the flour, break the egg in it, add the oil, yoghurt (in which you've dissolved the baking soda, vanilla). Gradually knead a soft dough and leave it to rest for 10 min.
Divide it into 2 parts, roll out each one into a rectangular sheet, smear each with oil and sprinkle with 1 ground cocoa biscuit, mixed with 1 tbsp sugar.
Wrap into a tight roll and cut it into 1/2″ (1 cm) pieces with a sharp knife. Arrange the spirals with the cut facing up in a pre-greased tray.
Bake in a preheated 360°F (180 °C) oven for 20-25 min.
Bring the sugar syrup to a boil for about 5 min., remove from the stove and stir in the lemon juice.
Dip the spirals in the cooled syrup and once soaked well, take them out with a slotted spoon. Arrange them in a bowl and pour on the remaining syrup.
Leave the spirals to overnight in the fridge, they taste best the next day.
Sprinkle with walnuts if desired.
