How to make
Beat the softened butter with 1 cup sugar in a bowl. Add the eggs 1 by 1.
Sift the flour and mix it with the baking powder, cocoa, vanilla and pinch of salt. Pour a spoonful at a time of the flour mixture into the bowl with the eggs, while stirring.
Mix together the ingredients for the white mixture. Beat to a smooth cream.
In order to bake an eye-catching cake, it's best to use a rectangular form, with its bottom and sides covered with baking paper. Pour part of the brown mixture into the form, then half the cherries (pitted ahead of time). Roll the cherries in flour before adding them. Next place part of the white mixture, then brown again, cherries and white mixture.
Bake the cake in a preheated 350°F (175 °C) oven. Once baked, sprinkle it with powdered sugar.
