How to make
Peel the turnips and boil them in salted water until soft. Then cut off their tops and carve out the insides.
Mix the chopped meat with grated onion, half the finely chopped turnip insides, bread crumbs, egg, nutmeg, salt and black pepper to taste.
Stir the mixture well and distribute it into the turnips. Arrange the stuffed vegetables in a buttered baking dish, add melted butter, cover with the cut off turnip tops and bake for about 40 minutes in a moderate oven, while also adding a little hot water from time to time.
Serve with potato salad and pickles.
