  • flour - 8 cups

How to make

In order to make Bethlehem bread, you need to get the yeast from someone who has already made it. Store the yeast in a large glass or plastic container in the refrigerator.

To stir the dough, only use a wooden spoon.

During the first 2 days, leave the yeast in the fridge as is, don't add anything to it. On the third day, stir it with the wooden spoon, put it back in the fridge. Do the same on the fourth day.

On the 5th day, stir the dough again with the wooden spoon. To it, add 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk and 2 cups flour. Stir well and put back in the fridge.

On the 6th day, knead the dough and add 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup milk, as well as 2 cups flour.

On the 7th day, only stir with a wooden spoon. On the 8th day, add 2 cups flour and 1 cup milk. Stir and put back in the refrigerator.

On the 9th day, divide it into 4 equal parts. Give away 3 of them to friends and relatives. To the 4th, add 2 cups flour, sifted with 2 tbsp baking powder beforehand, 4 eggs and 1/2 cup oil.

Stir the resulting blend to homogeneity, pour into a suitable, buttered container and bake until ready in a preheated 320°F (160 °C) oven. Baking time is about 40-45 min.
