How to make
In a bowl, beat the eggs and sugar. Add the milk and oil, continuing to stir.
Sift the flour along with the baking soda and add it to the other ingredients in several batches. Knead a soft, non-sticky dough. Shape the dough into a ball, which is left to rest for 20 minutes. Then divide the ball into 4 or 5 balls. Roll out each ball into a 9.4″ (24 cm) diameter crust.
Bake the cake layers for about 5-6 minutes or until they acquire a pleasant color in an oven preheated to 340°F (170°C). You will get hard cake layers like biscuits. While they are cooling, prepare the cake cream.
Heat the milk with half the sugar on the stove, but without boiling.
Beat the eggs with the remaining sugar and vanilla in a bowl. Add the flour and stir the mixture again. While stirring continuously, pour in the warm milk in a stream, then return the cream onto the stove. Cook over low heat until it thickens. Finally, add a lump of butter. Stir the cream frequently to prevent it from burning.
The Festive Village-Style Cake is assembled by placing warm cream between each layer. Spread the cream on top and sides. Sprinkle the entire festive cake with crushed walnuts.
When the Festive Village-Style Cake is ready, let it sit in the refrigerator for a day. During this time, the layers will absorb the cream and soften.
Enjoy!
