How to make
Pour the flour into a bowl and crack the egg in the middle. Pour the yogurt, oil, salt and activated yeast, mixed in warm water with sugar, which has been left to activate for 15 minutes.
A dough is kneaded from the products. Let it be medium soft.
Smear it with oil and let it rise until it doubles in volume. Heat oil - 1/2 cup, in a pan. Tear a ball of dough and form the mekitsi, then fry on moderate heat until golden.
Serve the mekitsi for breakfast with tea or coffee, marmalade or cheese.
