"These mekitsi are prepared without baking powder or yeast. They are very tasty, so we highly recommend them"

Ingredients

  • For the dough
  • flour - 0.9 lb (400 g)
  • salt - 1 tsp.
  • sugar - 1 tsp.
  • water - 1 cup (220 ml)
  • oil - 2 tbsp.
  • For frying
  • oil - by eye
  • For sprinkling
  • powdered sugar - by eye

How to make

The preparation of the dough:

In a deep bowl pour the flour, add salt, sugar and stir. Then pour lukewarm water, oil and stir with a spatula and then by hand.

Cover it with cling film and leave it for 30 minutes.

Grab a little of the mekitsi dough and form balls by hand. Roll them out with a rolling pin into a small circle.

Fry them in well-heated oil until they aquire a golden brown color on both sides.

Take them out and place them onto kitchen paper, so that it can absorb the excess fat.

Sprinkle them with powdered sugar and serve the sweet mekitsi.
