"Sauerkraut with turkey legs - always a good idea!"

  • turkey legs - 6
  • sauerkraut - 2 small cabbages
  • onions - 2
  • paprika - 3 tbsp.
  • duck fat - 3 tbsp.
  • oil - 2/5 cup (100 ml)

How to make

The turkey legs are cleaned and washed very well without removing the skin.

They are arranged in a baking pan.

The onion is cleaned, washed and finely chopped.

Add it into the baking pan with the meat.

The meat with onions are poured with 1 liter of water and 3 1/3 tbsp (50 ml) oil. Salt is not added.

Bake the legs for 1 hour in a preheated oven at 360°F (180°C), then remove from the oven.

The sauerkraut is cleaned of the cobs and cut into medium pieces.

Place in a large tray.

Add paprika, 3 1/3 tbsp (50 ml) of oil and duck fat.

Mix very well.

Pour 2 liters of water. Do not add sauerkraut soup.

The sauerkraut is baked for 1 hour in a preheated oven at 360°F (180°C) with periodic stirring, after which it is removed from the oven.

Add the onion stewed with the meat into the pan with the sauerkraut.

Mix very well.

Add the meat and cover with the sauce in which the baked turkey legs are.

Bake the sauerkraut with turkey legs for another 1 hour on the lowest level in the oven at 360°F (180°C).

The sauerkraut with turkey legs is served with your favorite drink.
