"Homemade pumpkin treacle - eat it as it is or add it to your favorite pastries"

Ingredients

  • pumpkin - 1, 500 g cleaned
  • sugar - 3 kg
  • lemon juice - 1 tsp.
  • geranium - 4 leaves
measures

How to make

The pumpkin is cut into pieces. It is placed in boiling water.

Lime water is prepared by adding 250-300 g of slaked lime to 5 liters of water. It is left to dissolve and only the clear water is collected.

The pumpkin is treated in this way so that the pieces of pumpkin remain whole.

The pumpkin is left for 2-3 hours and after it is removed from the lime water, it is washed very well in several waters.

The sugar is poured with 500 ml of water and the syrup is boiled. Add the pieces of pumpkin and citric acid.

The treacle is boiled over high heat. Shortly before the jam is ready, it is removed from the stove and left to stand for 12 hours. In this way, the pieces of pumpkin are filled with the juice of the pumpkin jam.

The treacle is boiled and it is done when it thickens.

The geranium is added.

The pumpkin treacle is poured into warmed jars, which are turned upside down until they cool completely.

Enjoy it!
