Ingredients

  • granulated sugar - 6 oz (170 g)
  • almond essence - 2 tbsp.
  • flour - 7 oz (200 g), type 00
  • salt - 3/4 tsp.
  • baking powder - 1/2 tsp.
  • butter - 4.2 oz (120 g) at room temperature + 1 tbsp. for spreading the dough
  • cream cheese - 6 oz (170 g) Philadelphia
  • egg yolks - 1 pc.
  • almonds - about 1.1 oz (30 g), chopped and raw
  • granulated sugar - 1 tsp. for sprinkling

How to make

If you like almond sweets and cantuccini, you'll love these lovely sticks inspired by the Scandinavian cuisine.

Mix the flour, salt and baking powder in a bowl.

Beat the butter and cream cheese in a bowl. Add the egg yolk and beat with the mixer until smooth on medium speed.

Add half the flour, mix until it is absorbed well, scrape the bottom of the bowl and add the rest of the flour. Mix on medium speed just until it comes together.

The dough is taken out and transferred to a lightly floured surface and kneaded by hand until it becomes flexible and completely smooth. Kneading by hand takes only a little while..

On baking paper sprinkled with flour, roll it out to a size of 12x12″ (30x30 cm).

Spread it with the spoonful of butter.

Cut it right down the middle lengthwise.

The sugar specified in the recipe is mixed with 2 tbsp. almond essence.
