How to make

We have provided step-by-step pictures of how to roll the fine sheet of seaweed into a roll using the bamboo mat! It's not easy, but it's very interesting. It's worth it!

Wash the cleaned rice 3-5 times abundantly with water and soak it for about 15-20 minutes. The clean rice can be cooked either in the oven or in a rice cooker. Add the Himalayan salt and sunflower oil, stir with a bamboo flat stirrer, pour 3 cups of water and cook for 30 minutes in a rice cooker or 35-40 minutes in an oven - 480°F (250°C).

During this time: cut the carrots into long strips/sticks 5x5 mm and steam boil with a pinch of salt (after boiling, be careful to preserve their shape). Cut the pickles and crab sticks into strips again.

After the rice is ready, we let it absorb all the water, it will start to become sticky - the necessary quality for a perfect kimbap.

Spread the bamboo mat and on top 1 Nori sheet. On top spread 5-6 tbsp. of rice, by making a 0.4″ (1 cm) thick layer (it is advisable to wet your fingers - as the special sticky rice really sticks to the fingers). It is recommended not to add rice to the top and bottom edges of the sheet for successful rolling and sticking.

Next up is the arrangement of the colorful filling in the middle of the sheet – the carrots, pickles and crab sticks – in strips.

With the help of the mat, begin to roll the Nori sheet with all the filling into a roll with light pressure. Carry out this process carefully as the seaweed sheet is extremely delicate and fine and can easily tear. Form it into a tight and round roll.

For cutting the circles, it is easiest to use a sharp serrated knife, which we slightly wet before each cut. Cut quickly and carefully, making sure that the Nori remains spiral-shaped and that the vegetables do not come out of the roll!

Arrange them in a portion and serve them. You can drizzle them with sesame oil if you like.

A traditional dish in Korea that is present in Korean cuisine every day. Because it is a combination of the beneficial qualities of all its ingredients, especially the Nori seaweed, which even rejuvenates and is therefore regularly consumed. They are found both in the classic round form of a roll - in circles and there is also a triangular kimbap. The variety of fillings in kimbap is endless. A whole art is created by the Asians, creating whole pictures in these mini rolls!

Wonderfully delicious!
