"The homemade pomegranate and walnut Turkish delight can last more than a week in a sealed container in the refrigerator. Enjoy!"

Ingredients

  • pomegranate - 2 pcs.
  • lemon - 1 pc.
  • walnuts - 1 cup coarsely chopped
  • sugar - 1 and 1/2 cups (200 ml each)
  • water - 1 and 1/2 cups (200 ml each)
  • natural starch - 2 packages of 2.5 oz (70 g) each
  • coconut shavings - 3.5 oz (100 g) for rolling

How to make

First, start with cleaning the walnuts and after you have cleaned a tea cup of walnuts, chop them into large pieces and set them aside.

Remove the seeds from both of the pomegranates and put them in a food processor, grind them very well, then strain the pomegranate water through cheesecloth.

Cut a slice from one lemon and set it aside. Also squeeze the lemon juice.

Put three cups of water and three cups of sugar in a pot. Put the pot on the stove to boil the water with the sugar. In the boiling water, where the sugar has melted, add the slice of lemon, which you set aside earlier and let it thicken a little on low heat.

In a large bowl, add the squeezed pomegranate juice and lemon juice. Inside, add two packets of natural starch, which are about one cup, dissolve the starch well in the lemon and pomegranate juice.

Add the mixture with the starch inside the pot, where the water and sugar are and stir very quickly, so that no lumps form, reduce the heat to very low heat and with a wooden spoon, stir continuously for 15-20 minutes, then add the chopped walnuts and mix everything well.

Pour the mixture for the homemade Turkish Delight into a container that you want the Turkish Delight to be shaped in, but first wet the container with water, so that it does not stick, then you pour the mixture inside, smooth out the top with a spoon and leave it for 24 hours in the refrigerator.

After 24 hours, spread coconut shavings on a tray and turn the Turkish Delight on top, so that it falls on the coconut.

Cut it into the desired shapes. I always cut it into small cubes, so that it's more convenient for me to serve.

Roll all the pieces in the coconut shavings. You can also use powdered sugar for this purpose and that way the Homemade Pomegranate and Walnut Turkish Delight can last more than a week in a closed box in the refrigerator.

The box should be closed, so that it does not absorb the aroma of the other dishes.
