How to make
If it's the first time you have to prepare butter cookies, you will understand, that it is not difficult at all.
Here's how to tackle this task:
Sift the flour with the baking powder into a bowl and add the sugar and vanilla sugar. Add the lard in pieces - it should be slightly melted - not runny and not too firm.
Start rubbing with your fingers, until the dry mixture is moistened and crumbs form.
In order to combine the crumbs and form a smooth dough, it is time to add the eggs. Add them, by cracking them directly into the bowl or lightly beaten. If you don't have large eggs, add an extra yolk.
Knead by hand, until you get a compact smooth dough.
Tear balls from it, flatten them or give them any shape you like. If you prefer to cut out shapes, roll out the dough necessarily on a surface floured with starch, so that the cookies don't stick.
Arrange the finished ones at a distance from each other in a tray covered with baking paper.
Bake each tray for about 10-12 minutes (3-4 tray would be obtained from this amount of products).
Baking time will also depend on the size and thickness of the cookies, so keep an eye on them and when they aquire a golden brown color around the edges, remove them.
If you bake them for too long, they become harder and change their taste.
When it comes to taste, I can advise you to use another flavoring, such as finely grated lemon or orange peel, in addition to vanilla. But it's optional and only if you don't like the very light taste of lard.
Sprinkle or roll the finished butter cookies for beginners in powdered sugar when they have completely cooled.
Enjoy!
