How to make
Sift the flour with a pinch of salt and 1/3 tbsp (3 g) of baking powder. Pour it into a bowl, add the two egg yolks, powdered sugar, vanilla and finely ground 1.8 oz (50 g) of hazelnuts.
Add the chopped cold butter. Knead a soft dough.
Wrap the dough in cling film and refrigerate it for 1 hour. Divide the cooled dough into 3 parts to make it easier for you to work with it.
Shape each part into a long cylinder, which you cut into 2.8″ (7 cm) smaller cylinders.
Arrange the cylinders on a tray lined with baking paper. Bake the Christmas cookies at 360°F (180°C) in a preheated oven without fan for about 10 minutes. Cool the finished cigars on a wire rack.
Melt the chocolate in a water bath. Dip each cigar cookie on both sides in chocolate and, if desired, sprinkle with coarsely ground hazelnuts.
Arrange the cookies onto baking paper and leave the chocolate to dry before storing them in a sealable jar.
