  • sauerkraut - 1/2 jar (1.6 lb /750 g/)
  • carrots - 1 pc.
  • oil - 1/2 cup
  • rice - 1 cup
  • leeks - 1 - 2 stalks (white part only)
  • paprika
  • black pepper

How to make

Clean the mackerel well and wash it under running water. Drain the fish and cut it into portions.

Sprinkle the fish with salt and leave it for 10-15 minutes.

Clean the leeks and cut them into large pieces. Stew them briefly in the heated oil. Add the chopped sauerkraut, the grated carrot and stir, until they soften.

Once they are stewed, add the washed rice. Once it becomes transparent, ​​season the mixture with salt and black pepper.

Pour about 2 cups of water and stir, until the liquid is absorbed. Transfer everything into a greased baking pan and make nests, in which the pieces of mackerel are placed.

Drizzle with a little fat and pour another glass of water. Bake the delicious fish dish in a preheated oven at 360°F (180 °C) for about 30-40 minutes.
