How to make
Turn the oven on to 390°F (200°C).
Prepare two flat trays, which are covered with baking paper.
In a bowl dissolve the starch with 1-2 tbsp. of cold water. Set it aside.
Pour the apples in a pot. They must be cut into medium-sized cubes. Add the sugar, a pinch of salt, freshly squeezed lemon juice and cinnamon. Stir well and leave the pot on a moderate heat, until the liquid, which has appeared is reduced by half and the apple cubes soften, but do not turn into a porridge.
Add the dissolved starch and stir vigorously for no more than 2 to 3 minutes. The spoon should leave a mark on the bottom of the pot.
Remove it from the heat and cool it to room temperature. The apple mixture can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or it can also be frozen in the freezer.
Open up a sheet of puff pastry. Rectangles 5x6″ (12x15 cm) are drawn with a ruler and cut out. In the middle, place 2 tsp. of the apple mixture, cover them and press the dough with your fingers and then with a fork.
Arrange the apple pies in the baking tray. Spread them with beaten egg and milk and with a knife cut them in three places and sprinkle them with sugar.
Bake the McDonald's mini apple pies in a preheated oven at 390°F (200°C) for about 20-25 minutes or until they're nicely browned.
