How to make
In a blender bowl, place the flour (pre-sifted), sugar and diced butter.
Turn on the appliance to blend the products. It's done very quickly.
Then add the egg and cognac. You can replace the cognac with rum.
Blend again.
Finally, add the milk spoon by spoon, until a butter pastry dough is obtained.
Place the dough in a pie tin with a diameter of 11″ (28 cm) and spread it with your fingers, by forming a boarder.
Once this is done, place the base for the fragrant pie in the freezer for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, prepare the filling.
Clean, peel and cut the apples into not very thin slices.
Put the butter, honey, cognac and sugar in a pot.
Get the mixture to a boiling point and then add the sliced apples to stew for 5-6 minutes.
Stir gently periodically. Strain the apples and set aside the juice.
Leave the filling to cool slightly.
Then remove the pie base from the freezer and arrange the apples (fan-shaped) over the entire surface.
Sprinkle with a few tablespoons of brown sugar and bake it in a preheated oven at 360°F (180°C) for 40 minutes.
10 minutes before the end of baking, remove the pie from the oven, sprinkle it generously with coarsely chopped nuts and place it back for another 10 minutes to bake.
After removing the apple pie from the oven, pour the apple juice over it.
Leave it to cool and serve the Greek Apple Pie - Milopita!
Enjoy!
