Ingredients

  • lentils - 0.8 lb (350 g)
  • sesame seeds - 3 tbsp (40 g)
  • olive oil - 5 tbsp (70 ml)
  • almonds - 11 pcs. (raw, peeled nuts)
  • lemon juice - 2 tbsp (30 g)
  • garlic - 1 - 2 cloves
  • salt - 2 pinches (or by taste)
  • cumin - 1 tsp.
  • cloves - 1 pinch (powder)
  • For garnish
  • red onion - 1/4 pc.
  • parsley - fresh leaves for decoration
  • olive oil - a drizzle

How to make

Boil the lentils until they're fully cooked according to the instructions on the package. Strain them from the water and leave them to cool.

Roast the sesame seeds in a non greased pan for a short time until they aquire a slightly golden color and make sure not to burn them.

Add garlic, roasted sesame seeds, almonds, olive oil, salt and lemon juice in a blender. Blend for a few seconds.

Add the lentils and spices to the nut paste and blend for a few more seconds until a smooth hummus is obtained.

The texture of it can be according to your taste. If desired, enhance the taste with more cumin, salt and lemon juice.

Serve the prepared lentil hummus sprinkled with finely chopped red onion and a drizzle of olive oil.

Garnish the appetizing spread with fresh parsley leaves and serve it.
