How to make
Sift the flour and baking powder into a bowl. Add two eggs, powdered sugar and the cold butter, cut into pieces. Flavor it with grated lemon peel.
Knead a soft buttery dough. Divide the dough into two equal parts. Wrap them up in cling film.
Put one of them in the refrigerator, the other in the freezer. Allow them to cool and in the meantime make the filling.
Peel and grate the apples on a coarse grater. Sprinkle them with brown sugar, 3 tbsp. lemon juice, cinnamon and add the chopped walnuts.
Homogenize the filling. Lay baking paper in a round pan measuring 10″ (26 cm). Spread the dough from the refrigerator evenly. Distribute the stuffing on it and smooth it out.
Using a large grater, grate the dough from the freezer on the apples.
Bake the strudel at 360°F (180°C) in a preheated oven with a fan for about 35-40 minutes.
Take out the baked italian apple strudel and immediately sprinkle it with powdered sugar mixed with one vanilla sugar.
Wait for it to cool completely before cutting it!
Enjoy!
