Beat the eggs and gradually add the starch that you've dissolved in 1 1/5 cups (300 ml) of cold milk. Put the remaining milk to boil with sugar and once it boils, add it to the egg mixture.
Mix the vanilla cream until it thickens on low heat (about 10 minutes). Remove the ready cream from the heat and mix the vanilla and butter in.
Add cold water to oval dessert bowls and sprinkle the top with chopped nuts of your choice. Serve with a spoonful of jam or strawberry marmalade.
