How to make

Start your Flower-Sandwich by preparing the bechamel sauce. Melt the butter in a small pot. Once melted add the flour and stir vigorously.

Add all the milk at once and keep stirring. You must achieve a smooth, homogeneous, thick sauce.

Grease a round baking tray, in which you will assemble your sandwich. Spread a small quantity of bechamel on each slice of bread. Place a slice of ham on top, then a slice of mozzarella, and finally a tomato slice.

Arrange the bread slices into the tray, making sure each slice overlaps slightly with the next one. Place the last piece of bread in the middle.

Season with dried basil and black pepper.

Beat 2 eggs in a small bowl, add the grated yellow cheese, and the remaining bechamel sauce. Pour the egg mix on top of the bread.

Preheat your oven to 78.7″ (200 degrees) and bake for 20 minutes.

The tray we used was 10″ (26 cm) in diameter.

Your Flower-Sandwich is ready and delicious!
