Ingredients

  • butter - 1 1/5 cups (300 g)
  • powdered sugar - 1 1/5 cups (300 g)
  • flour - 1 1/5 cups (300 g)
  • eggs - 7
  • walnuts - 4/5 cup (200 g) ground
  • vanilla - 2 packets
  • chocolate - 3.5 oz (100 g)
  • almonds - 2 2/3 tbsp (40 g)

How to make

Beat the butter with half the sugar until frothy. Add the egg yolks one at a time while continuously beating. Add the twice sifted flour, 3.5 oz (100 g) grated chocolate and walnuts.

Finally, beat the mixture very gently with the remaining sugar and beaten to snow egg whites. Pour the mixture into a cake form, covered with baking paper. The paper should come out 1 1/2 above the tray.

Sprinkle with peeled almonds or a few more walnuts, if desired, and place the chocolate cake in to bake in a moderate oven.

Cover the ready cake with a glaze made from the chocolate heated in a water bath with a pat of butter, a spoon of powdered sugar and a little milk.
