How to make
Sift the flour into a bowl, put the sugar, ginger and baking soda in a large bowl, then add the oats and optionally- candied ginger pieces. In a suitable container, heat the golden syrup, oil, lard, molasses, let them become homogenized.
Beat the egg with the milk. Pour the syrup into the flour and mix, then homogenize the milk and egg.
Pour the well mixed mixture into a square baking dish, pre-greased and floured. Put it to bake for 1 hour at 340°F (170 °C).
Leave it to sit for 24 hours in the tray before you slice and serve.
