One of the most popular drinks in the world is tea. In Turkey, Turkish tea is particularly popular. It will be offered to you wherever you go in Turkey. Tradition dictates that it be served after every meal.
Turkish tea is the most ordinary black tea, but prepared using a special technology. It is sold in different packages and is easy to find.
How to make Turkish tea at home?
To make Turkish tea, you first need to get two teapots or a double kettle.
The lower part of the double teapot or regular teapot is filled with water. Then, 5 tablespoons of black tea or a total of about 20 grams of tea are placed in the upper part of the double teapot or the regular teapot and about 200 ml of water is poured. This is the so-called infusion.
The double teapot is assembled, and if you use two separate teapots, they are placed one on top of the other, making sure that the teapot with the black tea is on top.
They are placed on the stove over low heat. The water is left to boil. It takes about 15 - 20 minutes. As soon as the water in the lower part of the teapot starts to boil, it is removed from the stove. It is left aside for about 1 minute. This is necessary so that the water stops boiling.
In the cups in which you will pour the finished tea, metal spoons must be placed. This is done because metal spoons are a conductor of heat. By placing these spoons, the cups are avoided from bursting from the hot tea.
First, a little of the infusion is poured into the prepared cups. Then, it is diluted according to preference with the water from the lower part of the teapot.
The Turks recommend that strong tea should be sweetened with honey or sugar.
