• Before you bother drying any mushroom, make sure it's edible and worth all the chaos surrounding drying and storage. Most inedible and poisonous mushrooms turn blue or red not long after they are picked;

Mushrooms are dried in two ways. The classic way to dry mushrooms is on a fine grid at least half a meter off the ground in the sun and air. An innovative way to dry mushrooms is the so-called fruit and vegetable dryers;

• To make sure your efforts so far have been successful, check the mushrooms with your thumb and forefinger for moisture. If they are already properly dried, you can proceed to the next step of storing them;

• There are quite a few packages in which they can be stored. Hermetic bags and jars, paper bags or boxes, textile breathable bags - it is your personal choice what type of packaging you will use;

• Be sure to put a label or a note on the package with the date of drying, so that you know how old the mushrooms are;

• Keep the mushrooms away from the sun, moisture and make sure the package is well closed if you want to store dried mushrooms well. Sunlight would be harmful in cases where you choose to store them in airtight jars.
