Olives are evergreen trees found mostly in the Mediterranean, Southeast Asia, South Africa, South China and also in some parts of Australia.
Like any plant, olives have different varieties. Some are suitable for processing and obtaining high-quality olive oil, others for using the fruit itself, and others are universal.
Olives are delicious and add an exotic flavor to any dish. Depending on the variety and size, the price of the olives is determined. Those that are already pitted are significantly more expensive. And why not save money by pitting olives yourself.
The easiest way to do this is with a wide knife. Place about ten olives on a cutting board and press them with the wide side of the knife. 80% of the pits come out by themselves, and the remaining 20% are very easy to remove by hand.
This method of pitting olives is only used if the olives will be cut or grinded into a paste. Another method of pitting olives is with a cherry pitter.
This way the olives are preserved whole. These are the two easiest ways to pit olives at home without using professional machines.
