We can dry strawberries in several ways - outdoors, in the oven or in an electric dryer.
Drying strawberries is not very easy. Great care must be taken in this process, because they are not durable and are easily covered with mold.
For this purpose it is necessary to choose strawberries, which have been higher on the stem, that have no rotten spots on them and are not overripe. Then wash and leave them on a paper towel to dry.
The dried strawberries are cut into even slices.
1. Drying strawberries outdoors
You will need newspapers and thick paper. Place a few sheets of newspaper on a flat surface and cover them with a sheet of thick paper. Then arrange the sliced strawberries on top and there must be space between them.
Strawberries arranged in this way are kept in the sun for about 4 days.
Drying strawberries in the oven
Arrange the sliced strawberries in a tray covered with paper. They are arranged at a distance from each other.
Dry them at 50-60°C and the oven door must be open at all times. This way, the moist air will be replaced with dry air and drying will be faster.
After an hour and a half, the tray is removed. Leave the strawberries to cool and then turn them over. Put them back in the oven for about an hour and a half.
It will take you about 8-10 hours to dry the strawberries with this method.
Drying strawberries in an electric dryer
Arrange the sliced strawberries tightly next to each other in the trays of the electric dryer. The temperature is set at 55-60°C. During drying you need to move the trays several times. This is necessary to make the drying more even.
Dried strawberries are extremely useful and you can put them in your sponge cake, smoothie or muesli for breakfast. Whatever you decide, you will not go wrong.
