Everyone loves a delicious and nutritious breakfast and as they say, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, whether you believe it or not, it is important to eat right. Although fluffy mekitsi, juicy filo pastries and sweet pancakes are our favorites, they are far from the best option for breakfast.
The first meal should bring the necessary nutrients to give the body energy for a strong start to the day. Such breakfast, that anyone can make at home, is granola.
The good thing about granola is that there is no one-size-fits-all recipe and everyone can interpret it to their own taste.
However, there are some basic ingredients in granola, that are included, so that it is tasty and healthy to eat.
Oatmeal, rye kernels, wheat kernels, barley kernels or whatever you prefer you can use as the base for granola.
Raw almonds and/or hazelnuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds can desired also be added.
You can add chia seeds, flaxseed or flaxseed flour.
Now we'll talk about the fruit. You can add all kinds of dried fruits, such as prunes, cherries, raisins, coconut, pineapple, figs, cranberries, apricots and others, by cutting the large fruit into small pieces.
You also need honey - 5 tablespoons, coconut oil or olive oil - 5 tablespoons and optionally maple syrup (or a little water).
Technique for making granola: mix all of the nuts in a bowl WITHOUT the fruit. Separately mix the honey, coconut oil and maple syrup and pour the nuts into the bowl. Mix very well and mix everything evenly.
In a pan onto baking paper, spread the mixture evenly and bake it in a 180 degrees oven for about 20-25 minutes, until the nuts are roasted and acquire a pleasant color. It is very important to stir every 3-4 minutes, otherwise they will stick and burn on top.
Once they are ready, take them out, leave them to cool a bit, add the fruit and mix everything well.
And that's it! Enjoy delicious granola with yogurt, milk or nut milk of your choice!
