Beat the ingredients for the layer, starting with the eggs and sugar.
Then add everything else and transfer the mixture to an oiled tray, at the bottom of which you've placed drained apricots with the cut side facing up.
Put the cake to bake in a preheated 360°F (180 °C) oven until fully ready. Leave it to cool, invert into a platter and syrup it with the heated juice from the apricot compote.
Of course, you can make this easy fruit pita with a different kind of compote.
