How to make
Arrange the neck steaks in a tray next to one another, sprinkle with salt and black pepper to taste, smear them generously with the mayonnaise and put the chopped mushrooms on top.
I used canned mushrooms in this recipe but you can use fresh. In this case, blanched mushrooms are more suitable though.
Pour in a cup of water around the steaks, while being careful not to pour it over the mayo. If you wash off the mayo with the water, it's no biggie but it's better to have it on top of the steaks.
Cover the tray with aluminum foil and bake in a preheated 360°F (180 °C) oven for an hour.
Take the tray out, remove the foil and sprinkle generously with grated cheese, return to the oven without foil for 10 min. to obtain a golden, cheesy crust.
