How to make
Heat 1/4 of the milk slightly and dilute the yeast in it. Add the sugar and a little flour and leave in a warm area for 20 min. Add the remaining milk, flour, 1/2 the salt and knead a dough.
Melt 1/2 the butter, without bringing it to a boil, let it cool a bit and add it to the dough a little at a time, while kneading the entire time. Leave in a warm area for 1 hour. Divide it into 10 parts and shape each one into a small, long baguette.
Chop the garlic finely, add the finely chopped basil, the remaining salt and butter (also melted). Arrange the baguettes in a tray laid out with baking paper and leave in a warm area for 20 min.
Make a few small cuts on top and smear them with the green butter. Beat the egg and smear the baguettes with it on top. Bake for 40 min. at 360°F (180 °C). Serve warm or cooled.
