"A superb revani for anyone that`s super hungry."

Ingredients

  • eggs - 6
  • sugar - 1 1/3 cups
  • milk - 4 tbsp
  • orange juice - 4 tbsp
  • orange zest - of 1/2 an orange
  • vanilla sugar - 1
  • baking powder - 1
  • semolina - 1 1/3 cups
  • flour - 1 1/3 cups
  • for the syrup
  • sugar - 3 cups
  • water - 2 1/2 cups
  • butter - 1/2 cup (125 g)
  • oranges - 1 piece of rind
  • lemon juice - 1 tsp

How to make

Separate the egg whites from the yolks. Use a mixer to beat the egg whites to a fluffy snow with a pinch of salt. To the bowl with the yolks, add the sugar and beat to a thick cream.

Subsequently add the milk, orange juice, orange zest and vanilla sugar.

Add the premixed semolina, flour and baking powder.

Add the beaten whites to the mixture and use a spatula to stir the 2 mixtures slowly and carefully until they form a fluffy mixture.

Pour the mixture into a rectangular oven dish that you've smeared with soft butter. Bake in a preheated 340°F (170 °C) oven until ready. Leave the cake layer to cool.

Make the syrup by combining all the ingredients for it. Keep boiling 5 min. after boiling point.

Use a ladle to pour the hot syrup evenly over the layer. Cover the oven dish with foil and leave it until it cools.

Sprinkle with coconut flakes.
