How to make
Peel the pears and remove their cores and stems. Dice them and mix them with the sugar.
Mash the cardamom and mix it with the vanilla and pears with sugar. Form the puff pastry into a rectangle. Put the filling along the center line of the rectangle lengthwise.
Wrap it into a roll and pinch it closed. Put it in an oven dish, smear it with the melted butter and bake 50 min. at 390°F (200 °C), covered with foil so it doesn't burn.
Take it out, cool it and cut it into thick slices. Serve with ice cream.
