  • onions - 3
  • garlic - 4 cloves
  • minced meat - 2.2 lb (1 kg)
  • fresh potatoes - 2.2 lb (1 kg)
  • oil - 1/3 cup (80 ml)
  • tomato paste - 4 tbsp.
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • savory herb
  • paprika - (sweet)
  • cayenne pepper - optional
  • cumin - optional
  • sugar - a pinch
  • parsley
  • For the topping
  • eggs - 3
  • yogurt - 12 oz (350 g)

How to make

The chopped onions and garlic are fried in the oil, the peeled, cubed and thoroughly washed potatoes are added.

Add the mince that has been mixed with little lukewarm water to make it easier to fry, let it simmer on the stove until the mince changes color and turns white.

Add the spices, tomato paste and a pinch of sugar.

The mixture is left on the stove for another 5 minutes, then it is poured into a 13″ (32 cm) diameter baking tray, sprinkled with parsley and the moussaka is baked for 30 minutes at 360°F (180°C) in the preheated oven.

The topping for the moussaka is made from the beaten eggs and yogurt, which is poured over the moussaka and returned to the oven. Bake for another 10-15 minutes.
