"We know there`s plenty more modern techniques for dyeing Easter eggs but here you`ll find the traditional method"

Ingredients

  • eggs - boiled
  • dye - safe, for eggs
  • parsley - leaves, or celery, clover, or geranium
  • cheesecloth
  • thread
measures

How to make

Boil the eggs. Shred the parsley leaves into individual ones or into clusters. You can use small leaves of geranium, clover, celery or other plants that would make for a beautiful egg design.

Take a leaf and press it tightly to the egg. Carefully wrap the egg in a piece of cheesecloth or pantyhose fabric, and dip the eggs in the dyes. After 10 minutes, remove the fabric and leaf.

Eggs wrapped in a fabric with holes, such as old jerseys, lace fabrics, etc. turn out especially beautiful.

Leave the dyed eggs to dry on cardboard and polish them with an oily woolen cloth.
