How to make
I put the poppy seeds to boil for 5 minutes in boiling water and leave them swell under a lid for 20 minutes and then strain them.
Beat the yolks with the sugar and soft butter, add poppy seeds and sifted flour with baking powder, nuts and raisins can be added if desired.
Separately, I beat the egg whites until a smooth mixture is obtained and very carefully add them to the dough with gentle stirring.
I put the dough in a greased mold and sprinkle the poppy seed sponge cake with sliced almonds and raisins if desired.
Bake the makovnik for 30-35 minutes at 320°F (160°C).
Leave the Russian pastry to cool.
Then you can sprinkle it with powdered sugar poppy seeds and eat with pleasure :)
