How to make
The cleaned from the entrails turkey is washed well and left to drain, then rubbed with spices and butter inside and out. It is set aside until the stuffing for it is prepared.
The rice is washed and soaked in water.
The leek is stewed in butter and the rice is added to it. As soon as it softens, add the sauerkraut and spices. Everything is cooked for another 2-3 minutes and removed from the heat.
The turkey is stuffed with the resulting stuffing, after which it is sewn with thread or skewers. Arrange the cut potatoes in a generously greased deep pan and place the turkey on top.
A little water is added and the potatoes are also sprinkled with spices.
The turkey is baked at 300°F (150°C) for about 2 and a half hours. It can be covered with foil at first to prevent it from burning. It is then removed and the turkey is turned at least twice to cook evenly. Water can be added to the potatoes during baking.
