How to make
The yeast is dissolved in the slightly warmed water. Add honey and olive oil to them. No need to wait for it to activate.
Mix the flour with the ginger and salt and sift into a bowl. A well is made into which the liquid mixture is poured and mixed with fingers or a suitable utensil. If necessary, add a little more flour until the dough begins to separate from the sides of the bowl.
Transfer onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic. Then the dough is placed in the bowl and lightly greased in advance. Cover it and let it rise and double in volume for 1 hour.
5 loaves of the same size are formed from the risen dough. Arrange them spaced apart in a baking pan lined with baking paper. Make cuts with a sharp knife and sprinkle with flour, optionally mixed with a little more ginger powder.
The loaves are left to rise again for 30-40 minutes and are placed in an oven heated to 390°F (200°C) until they turn become golden - about 25-30 minutes.
Once the ginger bread loaves are ready, let them cool on a wire rack before serving.
These small loaves are suitable as a company to exotic dishes or lightly toasted with butter and jam of your choice. I'll leave it to your imagination.
Enjoy your meal!
