How to make
This is a slightly different bread, with a delicate, slightly crumbly dense structure and an amazing aroma.
It's great for breakfast, combined with your favorite jam, cheese, smoked fish or sausage.
It is prepared easily, in the following way:
The yeast is dissolved in the slightly warmed milk and sugar. Leave it to activate for a while.
In a bowl sift the flour, it is best that it has a high gluten content.
A well is formed into which the salt, butter and activated yeast are poured successively.
Knead a smooth dough, by adding flour a little at a time until it stops sticking. If the dough is hard, instead of flour, you can grease your hands with oil or melted butter when kneading.
Put the finished dough in the bowl and let it rise for 1 hour in a warm room, then knead it briefly and let it rest again for 10 minutes.
The dough is formed into 3 identical elongated strips, which are braided and placed in a greased or baking paper-covered tray. The bread rises once more for about 30-40 minutes.
Heat the oven to 370°F (190°C) and spread the French butter bread with a beaten egg and bake for 30-35 minutes or until an appetizing golden crust is obtained.
Enjoy your meal!
